The start of the 2018-2019 school year is approaching quickly! I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather this summer. We are all looking forward to the children returning to school in September as the new school year promises to be another exciting and enjoyable experience for all of our students.
The first day of school for students will be on Thursday, September 6th. As a reminder, the school day begins at 7:45 and ends at 2:40. It is critically important that all students arrive to school on time and attend with consistency. Please remember that valuable instruction is missed each day that a child is absent or late. In addition, I encourage parents not to pick up their children prior to the end of the day for the same reason. As an alternative, students should be picked up at the “Walker Door” between 2:30 and 2:40. As a reminder, the “Walker Door” is the first main entrance located by the Auditorium in the Junior-Senior High School. Please use the drop-off area located near the elementary entrance if you will be dropping your child off in the morning. A staff member is stationed in this area each morning to ensure your child safely enters the building. Students should not arrive earlier than 7:00 a.m. The doors to the school will be unlocked and staff members will be in place to supervise starting at that time.
Later this month, you will be receiving important information about the upcoming school year, your child’s teacher(s), and busing information from our Transportation Department. Please take the time to review this information. It is very important that you contact the Transportation Department at 518-283-0671 as soon as possible if you have any concerns or questions regarding the busing assignments. Please remember, summer reading assignments will be due for students in Grades 1-6 when they return in September.
