We have had a wonderful beginning to the school year! After a quiet month of July, the faculty and staff spent last month preparing their classrooms and our hallways for the arrival of the students. On September 6th, we were quite excited to welcome back all of the students. As always, they came back with tremendous energy and enthusiasm for another wonderful year here at Van Rensselaer Elementary School!
On September 27th, we will be having our Open House, 6:30p.m. – 8:00p.m. A schedule for the Open House will be sent home later this month. Our teachers and staff are looking forward to meeting all of you. They are eager to share all the wonderful things that will be happening in their classrooms. It will also be a chance for them to review their classroom expectations with you, so it is very important that you attend. It is appreciated if you do not bring your children to the Open House so everyone is better able to focus on the important information being presented by the teachers. I know this can be an inconvenience, but I am hopeful everyone can make arrangements for that night. I look forward to seeing all of you on September 27th!
Please be aware that Mr. Ferrone will again be serving as our Dean of Students and as a math teacher. He will continue to be a resource you can contact with concerns regarding student discipline. In addition, School Resource Officer John Mooney Jr. from the Rensselaer Police Department will be back again to work with our students. He will continue to be a tremendous support to our students and programs.
On a different note, the individual results from the Grades 3-6 New York State assessments will be mailed home once we receive them. As always, thank you for your continued support.
