New Bus Run Information

Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:

We are excited to be able to provide the updated busing information for VRES and our JSHS to support phase 2 of our reopening plan beginning Monday, 10/5.  This will allow us to bring first graders and certain at-risk students throughout the district in for both weeks in each cycle.  We have been elated to hear all of the requests to be considered for this, but the criteria were set before we announced the plan.  Each of the families have already been contacted directly,  It is confidence inspiring to know how many parents value education so much!  Bus runs for the week of 10/12 will be made available next week.

All 6th grade families need to check the times for the JSHS start times and bus runs.  Moving their start times will allow us to maximise our bus capacity and better serve the community as a whole.  Bus stops won’t change, but times certainly will!

As we celebrate a successful September and look to continuously improve, we would like to thank all of the students, parents, and teachers for sticking together and tackling these new challenges together.  It isn’t what we are used to, but nobody can deny that we are learning new things together.  That is education by any measure.

We still are getting some questions about the screening process and how to return to school after any personal sickness.  It is a complicated new expectation.  Thankfully, the NYS Department of Health has released guidance on how to safely handle different circumstances.  If you still have questions, our health office can help guide you through the flowchart.

If you haven’t already signed up for our remote meals, please fill out the form.  Our meal count is significantly reduced this year.  This will have a negative impact on our school budget if more students don’t take advantage of the free meals.

We have one last request.  If you have not already filled out the Census, this weekend is the last opportunity to do so.  So far, our city has a low response rate.  If we don’t correct that together, future funding for our local government, police, fire, and school can be impacted.  Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.
