Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:
Our school is informing parents and guardians that an 8th grade student has been diagnosed with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This person has not been on school premises since November 10th. We are currently contact tracing the situation and all students identified as contacts will be called this evening by our nurses with specific quarantine instructions.
The Rensselaer City School District will remain OPEN during this time. Due to a quarantine-related shortage of teachers, our 8th grade students will move to full remote instruction for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We continue to work closely with the Rensselaer County Health Department. We will follow the NYSDOH established A, B, C’s of contact tracing and the NYSDOH school guidance.
As an important reminder, please do not enter the building if you do not meet the screening criteria. If you have been in direct contact with a COVID-19 positive person, do not come in. If you have been tested for COVID-19 and are awaiting results, do not come in. If you have traveled out of state per the NYS travel advisory list, do not come in. If you are experiencing any new or unexpected COVID-19 symptoms, do not come in.
Thanks in advance to all of you for helping and doing your part to keep the community safe. We want to do everything that we can to keep school open, our #fRAMily together, and continue live instruction safely.
