Snow, Sports, and Feedback

Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:

We made it to the last week in January before our first legitimate snow storm of 2021!  Since we are not sure how the roads will look in the morning yet, we ask that families with students in the building this week check the local news media or our Facebook page in the morning to see if we will be in person or if you will join the rest of our remote learners at home.  The schedule should be the same either way.

County health departments continue to meet concerning the allowance of “high risk” sports possibly beginning next week.  We plan to participate in the sports that are allowed by the DOH, Section 2, and our league with all necessary safety precautions implemented.  This entire situation is a learning curve for all of us so we ask for patience while we continue to receive guidance.

The New York State Education Department has announced that it is seeking public comment on draft waivers they plan to submit to the U.S. Department of Education to cancel state assessments this spring and some related accountability calculations due to the pandemic.  Comments may be e-mailed to with “ESSA Comments from (sender/organization name)” in the subject line through February 5. This is an opportunity to provide feedback and thoughts to our state education officials.

We all appreciate the continued focus of the parents and community to help keep our #fRAMily together, and continue live instruction safely in 2021!
