Budget Hearing, Mental Health Week, and Vaccinations

Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:

I have a few important announcements to share with you.

Budget Vote:

Our annual budget hearing will be held on Thursday, May 6 at 6 p.m. outside of the High School office and will also be live streamed.  Meghan Heimroth and I will present the budget information, ask the Board of Education candidates to introduce themselves, and answer questions from the public.  The budget newsletter is, unfortunately, still at the printers and will be mailed out next week.

We continue to add budget resources and information to the website.  The goal is to provide whatever possible for voters to make an informed decision.  We ask that everyone read up, ask questions, and come out on May 18th to have your voice heard.  The school budget vote is too important to skip or ignore.

Children’s Mental Health Week:

In an effort to recognize this important week, our PPS department has rolled out a new website and a week full of events.  The district is fortunate to have a Project Aware grant to help us fund these initiatives, and other much needed student supports within our community.

Vaccination Interest:

You may have seen in the news that the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine will likely soon be approved for kids ages 12-15.  Our Rensselaer County Department of Health would like to partner with school districts to make the process as easy as possible for those that would like the vaccine.  They have asked schools to find out how many families would be interested in having a local distribution for convenience.  If your family would like to have a student (ages 12-18 only) vaccinated locally, please fill out this interest form.
