New information about testing and mask mandates

Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:

There are still some questions about what, exactly, school will look like next week and beyond.  Unfortunately, we are still getting new information about testing and mask requirements on a weekly or daily basis.  What we know is that this team will do what it takes to make a safe and engaging school for our students.  Some of the details may change, but the focus and priorities remain the same.  As we better understand the details of new requirements, we will post that information on the website.

We have already begun weekly screening tests of our athletes involved in high risk sports.  Today we had our first positive test since we began back in February.  All contact tracing has been completed and the results have been shared with the local department of health.  These screenings will expand after school kicks off next week, we are just not sure exactly what it will look like yet.  Rest assured that no student will be tested without prior parental permission.

The goal posts may be moving, but we have the playbook from last year, so we are ready for whatever comes!

Don’t forget to visit MySchoolBucks.com to register for Chromebooks for all students in grades 5-12. Specific instructions are available on our Welcome Back page. Many students still have not signed up yet.
