Elementary Pick-Up and Meal Service

Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:

We are getting incrementally more efficient at our elementary pick-up process.  Today, all buses were dismissed and students were delivered to parents by 3:18pm.  In an effort to further improve the process, we will adjust our parking just a bit to accommodate the need to use the 2nd row.  We will ask staff to leave more spots open in the 2nd row so that parents can more easily wait for a spot.  This should help with some of the crowding between 3pm and 3:10pm.  Don’t forget that if you want to decrease your wait time, I recommend arriving around 3:15pm.

The district was notified today that one of our food service workers tested positive for COVID-19.  No students were identified as contacts, but we will be a little short in that department for a few days due to contact tracing.  The rest of the food service team is pulling together in true Rensselaer fashion to make sure the kids still get fed.  We just ask for some latitude and understanding if the menu doesn’t quite match or if they are a few minutes off the normal schedule over the next week.  Thanks in advance for your understanding and teamwork.
