Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:
We had some great weather over the long weekend. Hopefully everyone had a chance to get out and enjoy it! There are several events and resources coming up in the city that can benefit students.
- The Rensselaer Street Soldiers are holding an event to provide daily essentials, pantry items and hot food for families in need. No students should go hungry!
- The Boys and Girls Club is beginning to host teen night on some Friday nights. This is a great way for students to spend a Friday night constructively, safely, and socially!
- The Boys and Girls Club is also hosting a mountain bike field trip on Oct. 23rd. What a great way for students to get out and enjoy the weather before it gets too cold!
We would like to thank everyone who was able to come out and support the varsity football team for homecoming this Friday. It was an exciting game to watch and the crowd was full of positive energy!
The district was notified of an elementary teacher and an elementary student that tested positive over the weekend. These cases were unrelated and no additional contacts were identified following the DOH contact tracing guidance. We also had two student athletes test positive in the weekly screening process this morning. Fortunately, neither has actively practiced with a team since Friday, so no contacts were identified.
The district continues to implement layered prevention strategies in an effort to keep the entire #fRAMily safe and school open. Everyone wants to keep kids in school safely. We are all working together to make that happen and thank you for your partnership in that goal.
Please remember to send students to school with a mask and to keep the kids home if they have any signs or symptoms of COVID-19.
