Shortages, Screening, and COVID-19

Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:

Please check out our PPS October newsletter!  It is full of information and resources.

We all have been experiencing supply chain issues.  Our latest issues have been with printer paper and with our food supply.  Please be patient as our menus will need to be more flexible.  The food service team is making the best meals that we can with the food that is available, but the spotty delivery makes planning ahead almost impossible.  Thanks for your understanding.

The district will be implementing the NYS mandated COVID-19 screening testing as the resources and materials become available.  The tests under this program must be given to all unvaccinated staff and to student volunteers.  We will be sending out a consent form next week for families that would like to participate in the screening.  Please keep an eye out.

The district has been notified of an elementary student that tested positive.  All identified contacts have been called directly and notified of quarantine following the DOH contact tracing guidance.

The district continues to implement layered prevention strategies in an effort to keep the entire #fRAMily safe and school open.  Everyone wants to keep kids in school safely.  We are all working together to make that happen and thank you for your partnership in that goal.  Please remember to send students to school with a mask and to keep the kids home if they have any signs or symptoms of COVID-19.
