Updated COVID-19 Guidance

Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:

New York State has released new guidance based on CDC recommendations regarding isolation and quarantining.  They are shortening from 10 days to 5 days AND 24 hours symptom free.  They also said that “Additional guidance from CDC for schools is expected in coming days.”  Schools in our county are meeting regularly with the Rensselaer County Department of Health to collaborate on an adoption and rollout process for all of this.  Please keep an eye out for more information this weekend.

We have been notified of 3 more staff member and 9 students that have tested positive for COVID-19 since Tuesday.  Only one of these students was in the building yesterday.  None were in today.  We see the numbers going down since Monday.  We all hope that this pattern will continue! Please remember to send students to school with a mask and to keep the kids home if they have any signs or symptoms of COVID-19.   We will get through this together.
