Preparing for COLD Weather

Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:

If you have not seen the weather forecast for Tuesday yet, it will be COLD.   The temperature will be just above zero with a wind chill of around -10 degrees.  While this doesn’t fall into a frostbite danger zone, we can all agree that these temperatures require some planning.  We don’t currently anticipate any transportation delays, but we can’t guarantee that.  Our drivers have been instructed to pick up any walkers that they see if there is room on the bus for additional students.  Be sure to have students bundle up with a heavy coat, warm hat, and gloves/mittens.  Weather appropriate attire is the most important thing we can do for protection.

Athletes, please remember our weekly screening will be on Tuesday this week.  Be sure to wear your masks correctly and maintain distance.

We have been notified of 1 more staff member and 5 students that have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday.  Please remember to send students to school with a mask and to keep the kids home if they have any signs or symptoms of COVID-19.   We will get through this together.
