Remote Instruction on Friday

Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:

We are struggling with a shortage of drivers again on Friday.  Unfortunately, grades 6-12 will need to move to remote instruction for our early release day.  Mr. Pitaniello has shared the schedule that students will need to follow from home.  We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.  We would like to emphasize that attendance is important on all instructional days including remote instruction.

Fortunately, we are able to still bring in PK-5  students with some schedule adjustments for double runs:

Bus H students will be picked up approximately 25 minutes late Friday morning.

PK will now be dismissed at 11:30 (15 minutes earlier than originally scheduled).
Most other buses will dismiss at 12:30pm.
Bus F Students will depart at approximately 12:45pm (15 minutes late).
Bus H students will depart at approximately 12:55pm (25 minutes late).

Thank you for your patience and understanding.  If you see a bus driver, please thank them for their flexibility and dedication to make this happen.  There is no school on Monday, 1/17 as we observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  Enjoy the early dismissal and long weekend!

If your VRES student has utilized a loaner Chromebook and you forgot to return the charger, please send it in tomorrow.  We have had several loaners returned without chargers.  Thanks!

As a reminder, the new 5-day quarantine and isolation protocols require our nurse to verify that a student has been symptom free for 24 hours prior to returning.  Please be sure to answer or return the contact tracing calls so that she can clear your student to return.  DO NOT just send a student back to school after 5 days without clearance from our health office.  Thanks to all parents for your partnership in safety throughout this pandemic!

We have been notified of 6 more students that have tested positive for COVID-19 since Monday. Please remember to send students to school with a mask and to keep the kids home if they have any signs or symptoms of COVID-19.   We will get through this together.
