Internet Subsidies, Free Tests, & COVID-19 Update

Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:

We hope that everyone takes the time to take advantage of the federal Affordable Connectivity Program to help pay for your broadband services.  Every household with a student in our district is eligible for $30 per month toward Internet service.  That is $360 per year!

There is also a federal program to order free at-home COVID-19 tests.  Each household can receive 4 tests for free by signing up.  It only takes a minute.

As a reminder, the new 5-day quarantine and isolation protocols require our nurse to verify that a student has been symptom free for 24 hours prior to returning.  Please be sure to answer or return the contact tracing calls so that she can clear your student to return.  DO NOT just send a student back to school after 5 days without clearance from our health office.  Thanks to all parents for your partnership in safety throughout this pandemic!

We have been notified of 17 more students and 4 staff members that have tested positive for COVID-19 since Thursday. We were encouraged with significantly fewer numbers through the weekend, but then learned of most of these today.  Please remember to send students to school with a mask and to keep the kids home if they have any signs or symptoms of COVID-19.   We will get through this together.
