2022 Rensselaer Bridge Competition Team

2022 Bridge Competition

What do you do when an annual field trip changes to virtual? You hold the field trip in school! Back in February, students who entered the 2022 Model Bridge Competition met in the LGI along with advisor Mr. Bryden to watch the pre-recorded competition broadcast live on the big screen. Although it wasn’t quite the same as watching the competition in person, students had a blast! After the competition, students reflected on their designs, and celebrated with chicken wings and pizza for lunch. It took a little time, but the official results are in. Congratulations to the entire team for taking First Place again this year in the category of Most Efficient Design! This year’s team included Stone Cold, Greg Davies, Robert Hussey, Lydia Kyaw, Veronica Downey, Hser Yo, Karleigh Matthews, Liz Matthews, Krish Dewan, Nick Pershyn, Jeff Miller, Matt Hall, Carrie Salvinski, and Lwel K Baw Htoo. A special congratulations to Karliegh Matthews for winning First Place in the Aesthetics Category and Carrie Salvinski for winning Second Place for Load Held and Third Place for Efficiency. Both students will receive cash prizes for their accomplishments! And for the first time, organizers of the Bridge Competition have added a middle school competition. Congratulations to Elizabeth Tanner, Sarah Sweet, and Desmond Pickens Harrison for entering Rensselaer’s first middle school model bridge. The team took Second Place on their first try! They will also receive cash prizes for their accomplishments. Great job everyone!
