Welcome Back to School

As the new school year quickly approaches, many parents have questions.  Like the past few years, we have done our best to answer questions on our “Welcome Back” page.  You will find messages from the principals, pick up and drop off instructions, how to sign up for notifications and access SchoolTool, and bussing information.  Please look there first for any information.

There are some quick “To-Do’s” that you should consider:

  1. ALL students in grades 5-12 NEED TO sign up to receive your Chromebooks for the year.  Please do so ASAP. To receive a Chromebook please sign up on My School BucksAttached is a quick tutorial. If you have trouble following the instructions on the page, we will hold an in-person help session on Tuesday, 9/6 from 6-7:30pm outside the Auditorium.
  2. All students start with assumed transportation to their home address.  If your VRES student needs to go somewhere other than the registered home address, please email cjevons@rcsd.k12.ny.us  or drop off a note in the VRES office by Thursday, 9/1 with the following information:
    1. Student Name
    2. Requested Transportation Address
    3. Contact for New Address

Any requests received after 9/1 will not be processed for transportation until the second week of school (Monday, 9/12)

  1. Be sure to log into SchoolTool and verify that all information is correct before school starts.

Please note that for parent convenience, VRES will be holding a student supply drop-off from 9-11am on Friday 9/2.  This is a great way to ease the load of things to carry on the first day, meet your teacher, and see where your room is.

Don’t forget, there will be a “Back2School” community event and supply distribution at Riverfront Park on 8/27 10am-3pm & 8/28 11am – 2pm.  The whole family can enjoy games, food and entertainment. Special guest appearances include former Harlem Globetrotter and anti-bullying advocate Tay Fisher, the Sienna Women’s Basketball Team and regional DJ Nate the Great!  You can even reserve your bag in advance!  You can also pick up at the event with proof of residency.

We will see you soon!
