Superintendent Update

Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:

The 2022-23 school year is rolling along!  We have had a spirit week, a dance, soccer games, and volleyball games.  Our first modified football game will be tomorrow night and the first home varsity football game will be Friday night!  As we are enjoying the feeling of moving forward from the pandemic, we have seen a few cases this week and still need to take a few precautions.

Please remember to stay home if you are sick.  If a student has new and unexpected symptoms, the school may need a negative COVID-19 test for them to attend school.  If students have a fever, they may return to school after 24 hours fever free, resolving symptoms and a negative test.  We still have plenty of home tests available for pick-up in our offices for your convenience.  As partners in safety, we can work together to ensure that we keep moving forward safely.

If a student tests positive for COVID-19, they must isolate for at least 5 days after the test.  If your student is in grades PK-5, please be sure to touch base with the teacher(s) for any work available to the student.  Students in grades 5-12 have been assigned Chromebooks and may log onto class and/or get assignments from Classroom to keep up with work.  It is always important to be in contact with teachers to understand expectations.

Thanks to everyone for your patience with transportation.  We are still working out minor bugs, but it certainly has home more smoothly than last year so far.  Our VRES Parent drop-off is still a little backed up.  We ask again that parents consider dropping off at the auditorium entrance.  It is always safe, faster for you, will speed up the overall line, and promotes a little more independence & confidence for our students to walk down the hall.

We still have about 80 students that have not registered for Chromebooks.  If your student(s) in grades 5-12 STILL does not have a Chromebook, please complete the following so they have access to all of the instructional opportunities:
