Update and Reminders

Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:

We have almost made it through the first month of the new school year!  When summer was over, the temperatures certainly dropped.  It is always important that students have the layers they need for these fall temperatures.

Please remember that Friday, 9/30 will be an early dismissal day for staff development.  PK and 6-12 will dismiss at 11:45 and K-5 will dismiss at 12:30.

We did see quite a few student and staff cases of COVID-19 in the first two weeks of school, but that seems to have calmed down.  There are only a handful of active cases that we know of now.  Please remember to stay home if you are sick.  If a student has new and unexpected symptoms, the school may need a negative COVID-19 test for them to attend school.  If students have a fever, they may return to school after 24 hours fever free, resolving symptoms and a negative test.  We still have plenty of home tests available for pick-up in our offices for your convenience.

The school has experienced a new distraction this week.  It seems that students are air dropping inappropriate files while in the building.  Last night, there was a suspicious file shared and our #PartnersInSafety, Rensselaer Police Department responded.  They are conducting an ongoing investigation in an effort to identify the sender and deter future occurrences of this inappropriate behavior.
