Welcome Home Casey

Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:

Families in our community have recently experienced tragedy, pain, and loss.  We know that our city is #RensselaerStrong when these situations arise.  As a school district, we will do what we can to support the city and help reinforce this community value in our students.

On Monday afternoon, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Casey Frankoski will return to Rensselaer.   As a school district, we encourage everyone to wear red, white, and blue to honor Casey and her service.  We will not run a late bus on Monday to ensure that we do not interfere with the precession through the city.  We encourage everyone to participate in welcoming Casey home on Monday.

In an effort to support the Frankoski family and our entire city, the school will be closed on Thursday, March 21.  The volume of people expected will create significant traffic challenges.  As a school we want to do our part in giving everyone a chance to pay respect and to not contribute to the traffic with our buses.

School will be in session on Friday, March 22.  We know that there will be limited space at the church and that a live stream will be available as an alternative.

Being a part of a city that comes together like Rensselaer does is a privilege and an honor.  To quote a post from the Boys and Girls Club: “When our children are in search of role models, take a moment to share with them the story of these true American heroes.”
