School Budget

Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:

It is budget time again.  Our annual Budget Newsletter was put in the mail on Tuesday, so you should begin to see them delivered.  As always, a more comprehensive collection of information and answers is posted on our website.  It can also be found by clicking on the green par at the top of our website.

Some key budget information is:
Budget size: $32,074,664
Tax Levy    :  $9,426,789
Tax Levy Increase: 3.3% (Within the Tax Cap)
Board Seats:  2 open seats with 3 candidates running. (One dropped after we printed the newsletter)
Proposition:  To establish a Capital Reserve fund for up to 10 years and no more than $9 million dollars.

We are working to plan ahead for future maintenance and repairs and know that any such work will need to be done without new impact to the taxpayers.  A reserve fund is the best way for the district to achieve that goal.

As always, if you have questions about the budget that we didn’t answer on our website, please feel free to reach out to me directly.  I will do my best to get you information.

I’d like to share a positive thought and a thank you.  We all often get worried about the resiliency and mental health of our young generation.  It is critical for us to collectively take every opportunity to build those life skills.  As we wrap up our annual state testing, our entire district had a 99.8% participation rate with only one participation refusal.  Clearly the city of Rensselaer collectively values a teachable moment for our students to practice preparing for and facing a challenge in a healthy way. This is an indication that the entire #fRAMily is on a great path forward together.  Thanks to our our parents and partners in education!
