Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:
Put the first week of the school year in the books! The building was full of smiles, excitement, and energy all week. This is exactly what a school should feel like.
Every year, we like to put out reminders to make sure that everyone on campus can be #PartnersInSafety. Safety is always the number one priority when it comes to our #fRAMily members. Traffic is usually the main topic, and this year is no different.
First, the health office would like to remind parents to get any necessary medications to the health office ASAP. Please do not send them in student backpacks though. Please deliver them directly to the health office.
We have brightened up the crosswalks as a reminder to pay close attention to pedestrians. Please drive carefully and stop at ALL stop signs. We have asked our SRO to issue tickets to drivers that do not stop.
Knowing that traffic gets backed up during drop-off, please speed up the process by preparing for good-byes and getting bags ready while waiting in line so that students can exit the vehicle quickly once it is time. Parents that get out of the car to say goodbye slow the process down considerably and create frustration. If parents do feel the need to get out of the car at dropoff, we ask that you find a parking spot in the main parking lot to walk your child to the door.
Don’t forget that VRES students can also be dropped off at the auditorium entrance. By utilizing both drop-off areas, we can also speed the process and reduce the wait time for everyone.
Just a quick reminder to follow the one-way arrows in the main parking lot to help make traffic flow smoothly.
Please remember that when a bus has red lights on, ALL traffic must stop. Last year, 316 tickets were issued in Rensselaer for passing our buses with the lights on. Remind your neighbors of the importance of traffic safety around school buses.
If we all work together as #PartnersInSafety, everyone wins!
Don’t forget that many questions can be answered on the Welcome Back page. It can also be found on the green banner at the top of our website.
The Yondr pouches were delivered today. The JrSr High will begin using those on Monday in an effort to reduce distraction and encourage direct conversation between students.
Have a great weekend!
