Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:
Happy New Year! 2025 has started quite cold, but we are pleased to report that the smiles on our students’ faces certainly help to warm the heart!
Unfortunately, we find ourselves back in a shortage of bus drivers to start the new year. If you know anyone that may want to apply, please share our listing with them. In the mean time, we ask that you be patient as we may have some delays or last minute changes in our bus service on any given day. We will do our best to communicate any issues that we may be able to anticipate. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
We would like to also put out a reminder about VRES student drop off. Please remember that the three ways to drop off are:
1) Auditorium Entrance (Express - quickest)
2) Elementary loop (Please remain in your car to keep this process moving quickly)
3) Park in the main parking lot and walk your student in (for those that want to)
We ask all parents to follow one of these three methods. There has been a noticeable increase in cars parking in random spots near the VRES loop to avoid the line. This causes traffic issues and creates a safety concern for students crossing the road during our busiest traffic pattern. We will have our SRO outside to help stop this pattern in the coming days. It takes everyone to act as #PartnersInSafety to ensure a great start to every school day.
As a reminder, we will hold an early dismissal (11:45 for PK & 6-12 and 12:30 for K-5) on Monday, 1/13 for staff development. Our faculty and staff always strive for self improvement for their students.
We are excited to host a rock band (10:01) on Monday morning for students in grades 6-12. Based on the last time we hosted an event like this, it will be a fun and memorable cultural opportunity for these students.
