Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:
This is a quick reminder that there is no school on Wednesday, 1/29 in recognition of Lunar New Year. If you are looking for some fun educational activities for kids on Wednesday, the New York State Museum has free activities. Enjoy your day!
We are holding a special ceremony this evening (1/28) to dedicate the basketball court, which has been named in honor of longtime coach Rick McCabe. Rick was a beloved coach and teacher who dedicated many years to the Rensselaer community. He tragically passed away last year after a courageous battle with illness. We invite friends and family of Coach McCabe, as well as members of the Rensselaer community—especially those from the NYS championship basketball team that Rick coached—to join us for this meaningful ceremony tonight between the JV & varsity boys basketball games.
We are still in a shortage of bus drivers to start the new year. If you know anyone that may want to apply, please share our listing with them. In the mean time, we thank you for your patience as we experience some delays or last minute changes in our bus service on any given day.
We would like to also put out a reminder about VRES student drop off. Please remember that the three ways to drop off are:
1) Auditorium Entrance (Express - quickest)
2) Elementary loop (Please remain in your car to keep this process moving quickly)
3) Park in the main parking lot and walk your student in (for those that want to)
We also plan to hold a lockdown drill within the week.
Thanks to everyone that helps to be #PartnersInSafety!
