Van Rensselaer Elementary School will be hosting a family-friendly holiday movie on Thursday, December 14th from 6-8 pm in the auditorium. Please enter the auditorium doors.

Anyone interested in playing a winter sport should sign up in the RHS nurse's office by October 31. Anyone who signs up will need to fill out an eligibility/permission packet and have an up-to-date physical on file in the health office. High School Sports Start on November 13 and Modified Sports start on November 20. This winter we will offer the following sports:
- Modified Boys and Girls Basketball
- JV Boys and Girls Basketball
- Varsity Boys and Girls Basketball
- Modified and Varsity Wrestling
- Varsity Bowling
- Varsity Cheer

Van Rensselaer Book Fair

We are working hard to keep kids reading and raise critical funds for our school with our Scholastic Book Fair from Monday, October 2 to Friday, October 6. Your child’s class will have one time to shop, so please send in money on that day. Your child’s teacher will communicate this with you via Seesaw or Class Dojo.

The fair will connect your kids to notable books and inspiring characters—helping them become lifelong readers. This fair will also help raise money for the summer reading program where each child will be able to pick out a book to bring home for the summer!

Our Book Fair offers a cash-free payment option called eWallet. It’s a convenient digital account that your child can use for shopping at our fair. Grandparents, friends, and others can contribute, too! I highly recommend that you use this tool!

If you can’t make it to the fair, then shop online at our school’s Virtual Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.

Hello families! For students in grades 5 - 12 to receive their Chromebook for the 2023-24 school year, you must make a decision on our Chromebook insurance. Rensselaer Jr Sr High will be having summer workouts in the weight room at school for any students entering grades 7 through 12 who wish to workout. These workouts will be run by an RCSD coach. The weight room will be open on the following dates and times.
Friday 7/7 9am - 11am
Tuesday 7/11 9am - 11am
Thursday 7/13 9am - 11am
Tuesday 7/18 9am - 11am
Thursday 7/20 9am - 11am
Monday 7/24 9am - 11am

More dates/times will be added later in the summer.

All varsity sports will start the week of 8/21. Dates and times will be sent out later.

Summer is here!
We are getting ready to start our ESY summer school on 7/5 and our VRES and Jr/Sr high summer schools on 7/10. We also are hosting a FREE 2-week flag football camp that would be conveniently times after summer school for students in grades 3-5. Please call to sign up as there are still slots available.
We have posted the summer bus routes on the website. Please note that due to traffic safety concerns on the access road, the city has requested that the gate to Partition St. be closed and locked. Drivers can no longer get to school via Partition St.
If you have not already, please check out our brand new website. This tool will combine our website information, messaging, and social media channels to make it easier for everyone to be on the same page.
