Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:

On Wednesday, 11/13, we will hold an assembly at 1pm to honor the heroic efforts of one of our students. Junior Loja Guaman, a student whose quick thinking recently saved lives. Guaman is being recognized for alerting his sleeping family during a fire at their home, demonstrating bravery and presence of mind in a life-threatening situation.

Guaman had recently engaged with the Injury Prevention and Community Engagement Team from our #PartnersInSafety during Public Education Week, where he learned essential safety skills. His actions during the incident reflect the value of community awareness and preparedness.

We will be joined by members of the Rensselaer City Fire Department, Rensselaer City Police Department, and local elected officials to honor him. Chief Brooking, along with both on- and off-duty members and the Community Engagement Team, will be present to recognize Guaman’s heroic efforts.

Our auditorium will be full of students, so if parents or community members would like to watch, please use the live stream.
