This annual event, hosted by New York State at the Empire State Plaza, It’s a powerful way for students K-12 to reflect on Dr. King’s legacy through his Six Principles of Nonviolence:
- Nonviolence is a way of life for courageous people
- Seeks to win friendship & understanding
- Seeks to defeat injustice, not people
- Holds that suffering can educate & transform
- Chooses love instead of hate
- Believes the universe is on the side of justice
