From Sketch to Stove: A Creative Collaboration!
Posted Date: 02/13/26 (02:34 PM)
Our 8th Grade Art and Family & Consumer Science (FACS) classes cooked up something truly unique this week! In a cross-curricular "Sketch to Stove" lesson, students teamed up across departments for a challenge that started with a surprise.
The Creative Process:
- The Gumball Challenge: Partners randomly selected a food item from a gumball machine—whatever they pulled was their project for the week!
- In the Studio: Art students led the way in drawing their food in the iconic, colorful style of Wayne Thiebaud, using oil pastels and colored pencils to bring their "sweet" visions to life. 🖍️✨
- In the Kitchen: Partners then headed to the stoves to cook and plate the actual dish together!
Amazing job to our 8th graders for proving that art and cooking are the perfect pairing!
