National Parks with Mrs. Kerr and Mrs. Nixon's 4th Grade Class Project
During Summer School we were able to study many fun themes but the favorite of Mrs. Kerr and Mrs. Nixon's Fourth Graders were the National Parks. These students as well as the Third Graders learned all about National Parks. Our Fourth Graders did a research project on the park of their choice then learned how to use Canva to create recorded presentations and slideshows. Students also designed their own arrowheads for the parks. Check out all of their hard work and some photos of along the way! Thank you for a great Summer filled with having fun while we learned!
Please click on the hyperlinks on slides 2-7 t o explore the student's projects.

Celebrating Juneteenth: A Day of Freedom, Reflection, and Community Engagement
Juneteenth marks a significant day in American history, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. On June 19th, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce the end of slavery, a momentous occasion that came nearly two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.
Juneteenth is a day to celebrate freedom and equality. It's also a day to reflect on the history of slavery in America and its lasting impact. As the Rensselaer City School District, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected. We believe that education is a powerful tool for promoting understanding and social change.
Looking to celebrate Juneteenth in the community? Here are a couple of local events:
We encourage our students and families to join these events and celebrate Juneteenth in a meaningful way.
