RCSD student Ahliciya Dempsey participated in a ride-along with Captain Mooney of the Rensselaer Fire Department today as part of the district’s Fire Science CTE program. The program aims to provide five ride-along experiences during its first year.

Dempsey was picked up by a fire truck shortly after checking in to homeroom and returned to the station to assist with daily vehicle function and supply checks. As the accompanying photo was taken, the crew received a medical call and responded immediately. With the patient’s consent, Dempsey was able to assist by feeding the patient’s dog while they were transported for treatment. After returning to the station, Dempsey completed paperwork and call logging before heading to the classroom instruction portion of the day.
