Kindness & Heritage: February Character Education Assembly

Posted Date: 02/25/26 (01:05 PM)

Van Renesselaer Elementary School  came together today for a beautiful assembly focused on Kindness and Black History Month. It was a morning filled with inspiration, music, and celebration!

Highlights from the Stage:

  • One School, One Book: We highlighted our reading of We Dream a World by Yolanda Renee King. A huge thank you to the guest speakers who visited every classroom to share this story, honoring the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King.
  • Pre-K Shine: Mrs. Chenot's class rocked the house with Doggyland by Snoop Dogg!
  • First Grade Hearts:  Mrs. Blake and Mrs. Jones’ classes performed a wonderful rendition of The Kindness Song
  • Jump Rope Ninjas: Coaches Bailey, Sousa, and Holzhauer presented awards to our new Black Belt Club members for their incredible consecutive jump milestones!
We closed out the morning with the timeless sounds of Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World. We are so proud of our students for leading with kindness! Classroom Attendance Winners
