The Rensselaer City School District is now accepting registrations for the 2026-2027 school year. Residents with children who will be 5 years old by Dec. 1, 2026, are eligible for kindergarten. Children who will be 3 or 4 years old by Dec. 1, 2026, are eligible for the Pre-K program.

Registration steps:

1. Contact Tracy Foust starting Feb. 23 at 518-396-3518 or tfoust@rcsd.k12.ny.us.
2. Complete the online pre-registration at rcsd.k12.ny.us.
3. Schedule an in-person appointment beginning the week of March 23.
4. Submit all required residency and age documentation during the appointment.

Program details: The Pre-K program offers 54 slots determined by a random lottery system. Students not selected will be placed on a waiting list. Transportation is provided for the program, which is projected to run from 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m..
