Birds of Prey in the Auditorium!

Posted Date: 03/05/26 (01:45 PM)

Van Rensselaer 2nd Graders were treated to an amazing Birds of Prey experience in our auditorium today!

We received the Rensselaer Elks Club's Eileen L. Collins Science Series Grant, which enabled the Wildlife Institute of Eastern New York to bring five incredible birds to our school. This unique opportunity gave our students an up-close look at these magnificent animals, providing a front-row seat for a day of discovery and interactive learning for our young scholars!

Our special guests included:

  • Eastern Screech Owl
  • Aplomado Falcon
  • Turkey Vulture
  • Barred Owl
  • Eurasian Eagle Owl
Check out the photos below to see our 2nd graders in action!
A huge thank you to both the Wildlife Institute of Eastern New York and the Rensselaer Elks Lodge #2073 for making this possible https://www.facebook.com/2073elks/Eastern Screech Owl as part of the Van Rensselaer's 2nd Grade Birds of Prey ExperienceVan Rensselaer's 2nd Grade Birds of Prey ExperienceAplomado Falcon as part of the Van Rensselaer's 2nd Grade Birds of Prey ExperienceEastern Screech Owl as part of the Van Rensselaer's 2nd Grade Birds of Prey ExperienceAplomado Falcon as part of the Van Rensselaer's 2nd Grade Birds of Prey Experience
