Safety Update

Members of the Rensselaer City School District Community:

We have noticed another uptick in traffic safety concerns.  There are observations of people running stop signs and not respecting crosswalks.  Please remember that we all want our school campus to be the safest place for students, staff, and community members.  That expectation requires each of us to take on responsibility as #PartnersInSafety.  Please be sure to drive cautiously, stop at all signs and any crosswalk with people in or nearby it.  Please report if you see others creating a safety hazard.  We have purchased some signs to help remind everyone of the crosswalks and traffic patterns.

Additionally, we have noticed parents choosing to park utilizing elementary parking spots rather than our drop off line.  With the construction going on, this causes issues for our staff.  Our parking on the elementary side of the building is limited due to the construction workers.  Please do not occupy elementary spots, as our staff is arriving to work.  We ask that you remember that the three ways to drop off are:

1) Auditorium Entrance (Express - quickest)

2) Elementary Loop (Please remain in your car to keep this process moving quickly)

3) Park in the auditorium parking lot and walk your student in (for those that want to)

We have received great feedback about our new kiosks for visitors.  These help us to accurately track who is in the building at any given time.  We are always looking for incremental improvements when it comes to our processes.

As always, we appreciate our parents and community helping us as active #PartnersInSafety.
