Class of 2026 Celebrates Annual Senior Picnic on the Athletic Field

Posted Date: 06/16/26 (03:39 PM)

Today, the Rensselaer City School District hosted its annual High School Senior Picnic, giving the Class of 2026 a wonderful opportunity to gather and celebrate their upcoming graduation. The end-of-year festivities took place on the athletic complex next to the football field concession stand, where seniors spent the afternoon socializing, playing lawn games, and enjoying a well-deserved break.

Recognizing Program Coordinators & Honored Guests:
The district would like to extend its sincere appreciation to our Senior Advisor, Mrs. Mahar, for their leadership and efforts in organizing this successful end-of-year milestone.

Additionally, the event served as a special opportunity to recognize our retiring faculty and staff members. These dedicated educators and support staff joined the picnic to celebrate their own upcoming "graduation" into retirement, marking a beautiful conclusion to their impactful careers alongside the senior class they helped guide.

Please join us in thanking our 2026 retirees for their years of service to our students:

  • Barbara Capozzola – Teacher
  • Vanessa Shanahan – Teacher
  • Tammy Hilstro – Teacher's Aide
Expressing Our Gratitude:
We also extend our gratitude to our local firefighters, who generously volunteered their afternoon to serve as grill masters, preparing hamburgers and hot dogs for all of our students and staff. Their participation highlights the strong community partnerships that make Rensselaer such a special place.

We congratulate our seniors and our retirees as they embark on their next exciting chapters!
